Top POS Companies by Restaurant Location Installs Spring 2025 Survey
Survey Results: Which POS Systems Are Winning in 2025?
More than 250 POS companies have confirmed installations among restaurant groups and chains operating five or more locations in the U.S. and Canada. RestaurantData’s Spring 2025 survey covered 3,150 chains and 286,894 restaurant locations. The verified restaurant-company, location, ownership, and technology relationships underlying this research are maintained in Atlas by RestaurantData.
Survey period: Spring 2025, following the Fall 2024 baseline survey. Data reflects reported installations among chains with five or more units in the U.S. and Canada. Editorial update, August 11, 2026: interpretation, Atlas, Dictionary, Research Center, and structured-data context were added; the historical survey figures were retained.
How to Interpret the POS Rankings
This report measures POS installations reported across the surveyed population of multi-unit restaurant companies. It does not represent every restaurant in the United States and Canada, and it should not be interpreted as vendor revenue, financial performance, or a recommendation of one platform over another.
- Location installations: surveyed restaurant locations associated with the listed POS system during the research period.
- Percentage share: the provider’s reported locations divided by the 286,894-location survey base.
- Chain-count growth: change in the number of surveyed chains associated with the provider compared with the Fall 2024 survey; it is not growth in installations, sales, or total market size.
- In-House / Proprietary: a technology category used for restaurant companies operating internally developed or controlled POS systems, not a commercial POS provider.
- Mixed-provider environments: retained when a company used multiple systems or was moving between providers during the survey period.
The Restaurant Data Dictionary standardizes the meaning of point-of-sale system, POS coverage, technology stack, provider change, company record, unit count, last verified date, and related RestaurantData research terms.
