Key Market Observations
New York is the largest single market with 10,455 total locations tracked, edging out Los Angeles (10,020). NCR/Aloha’s dominance is most pronounced in New York with 3,504 installs, nearly double its count in Houston (1,647).
Toast shows its strongest penetration in Los Angeles with 932 installs, significantly higher than any other market in this group and consistent with its strength in urban coastal markets. Its 748 installs in New York also outpace Chicago, Dallas, and Houston.
PAR is strongest in Dallas and Los Angeles with 728 and 799 installs respectively, reflecting its concentration among larger QSR chains with heavy footprints in those markets. Chicago is notably its weakest market at just 265 installs.
In-House/Proprietary ranks #3 overall with 5,055 installs across just a small number of large chains reflecting the scale impact of brands like McDonald’s, Starbucks, and others that have built their own POS platforms.
Other POS Systems account for 6,827 installs (15.76% of the total) across these five markets, a meaningful segment representing dozens of smaller providers with regional or a focused niche operator.
