Restaurantdata.com New Opening Signals for Sales Teams

New Restaurant Opening Activity for Suppliers, Vendors and Manufacturers

Most restaurant reporting shows what already exists. Restaurantdata identifies restaurants that are expected to open, giving suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and service providers earlier visibility into restaurant development activity.

Each week, Restaurantdata publishes new restaurant openings across the United States, including major markets such as Atlanta, Chicago and New York City. Reports are issued 49 weeks per year and cover more than 80 regional markets.

During a typical week, Restaurantdata identifies approximately 300–600 new restaurant openings nationwide. Last week alone, 513 new openings were identified.

What Is Represented

Restaurantdata tracks independent restaurant operators and multi-unit restaurant companies, including projects that have not yet been publicly announced.

Much of the reported activity comes from smaller and mid-sized operators, including:

  • First-time owners opening their first restaurant
  • Small restaurant groups expanding from two to five locations
  • Regional operators continuing to add locations

These projects can be difficult to identify through traditional restaurant reporting because many have not yet reached the public announcement stage.

How the Data Is Built

Restaurantdata combines multiple sources to identify and verify restaurant development activity, including:

  • Building permits and entitlement filings
  • Lease and commercial development activity
  • Operator disclosures and expansion signals

This is not a static directory. The database is continually researched, filtered, verified and updated as projects move through the development process.

Why Earlier Restaurant Activity Is Tracked

Restaurant development often begins months before opening. During that period, operators may be selecting equipment, foodservice distributors, technology providers, furnishings, insurance, financial services and other business partners. Tracking activity during development provides visibility into projects before they become operating restaurants.
