Pizza Hut began in 1958 under brothers Dan and Frank Carney in Wichita, Kansas, and is headquartered at 1 Station Pl in Stamford, CT. LongRange Capital acquired Pizza Hut's business outside mainland China, including its U.S. and Canadian system, from Yum! Brands in September 2026. Pizza Hut has locations in all 50 states and Canada, and almost all restaurants are franchised. Locations operate as casual/family or quick serve restaurants serving Pizza for lunch and dinner. A representative restaurant has about 100 seats and occupies about 3,000 square feet, although traditional dine-in restaurants are generally larger and delivery, takeout and food-court locations may have smaller footprints with little or no seating.

The Restaurant Enterprise Index focuses primarily on companies with a substantial role in restaurant operations. Investment firms, financial sponsors, and other ownership partners are generally not included unless they also play a meaningful operating role; an otherwise qualifying entity may also be omitted when sufficient reliable information is unavailable.
The ownership hierarchy follows the entity structure from the bottom up, showing the profiled entity in relation to its parent organizations, including its ultimate parent. When the entity owns or operates concepts beneath it, up to three are displayed.
