Public profile metrics.
Chick-fil-a traces its roots to the Dwarf Grill, a Hapeville, Georgia, established by the Cathy brothers in 1946. The chicken sandwich developed at that time became later associated with the Chick-fil-a name. In 1961 S. Truett Cathy introduced pressure-cooking equipment into the preparation. Greenbriar Shopping Center in Atlanta became home to the first restaurant using the Chick-fil-a identity in 1967. Today, the company is headquartered at 5200 Buffington Road in Atlanta and has locations in 49 states. More than 90% of the system is franchised. Almost no franchisees own/operate more than 1 location. Chick-fil-a is classified as quick serve, with meal periods that can include breakfast, lunch and dinner. A typical location has about 50 seats and occupies approximately 1,250 square feet. Seating, square footage and meal availability can vary by market and site type.

The Restaurant Enterprise Index focuses primarily on companies with a substantial role in restaurant operations. Investment firms, financial sponsors, and other ownership partners are generally not included unless they also play a meaningful operating role; an otherwise qualifying entity may also be omitted when sufficient reliable information is unavailable.
The ownership hierarchy follows the entity structure from the bottom up, showing the profiled entity in relation to its parent organizations, including its ultimate parent. When the entity owns or operates concepts beneath it, up to three are displayed.
